Elizabeth, NJ – Bicyclist Dies in Collision at NJ-1 & NJ-9
Elizabeth, NJ (August 13, 2024) – On Sunday, August 11, a cyclist was killed following a traffic accident in the Elizabeth area. The deadly accident was reported on NJ-1 near NJ-9 late that night around 10:30 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 35-year-old man was riding a bike near North Avenue when he was hit by an oncoming motor vehicle.
It was later revealed that the motorist was trying to beat a red light at the time of the deadly crash. The driver hit the rider so hard that the bike split in half, and the victim was decapitated. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. The area was temporarily closed while emergency responders were present. The identity of the deceased party has not yet been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be provided as it continues.
