Woodbridge, NJ (March 3, 2026) – A 90-year-old man lost his life on Sunday, March 1, after being struck by an SUV while attempting to cross a roadway in the Sewaren section of Woodbridge.
According to the Woodbridge Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. at the intersection of West Avenue and Woodbridge Avenue. Authorities reported that Jose Acosta, a resident of Sewaren, was crossing West Avenue within a marked crosswalk when a southbound SUV hit him.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and rendered aid before transporting Acosta to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
