Head-On Crash on Lakewood Rd Claims Woman’s Life

Toms River, NJ (March 8, 2026) – On Saturday, March 7, a woman lost her life following a violent head-on crash on Lakewood Road in Toms River.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred around 11:05 p.m. when a vehicle traveling southbound on Lakewood Road struck a roadside guardrail. The impact caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

After hitting the guardrail, the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of travel. It then collided head-on with an oncoming car driven by a woman. Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after reports of the collision. Crews found the injured woman inside her vehicle and immediately provided medical care. Paramedics then transported her to Community Medical Center in Toms River for emergency treatment.

Despite doctors’ efforts, the woman later died from the injuries she sustained in the crash. Authorities have not yet released her identity.

The driver of the vehicle that first struck the guardrail was also injured in the crash. Emergency crews transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.

While he remained at the hospital, officers obtained a blood sample through a court order as part of the investigation. Authorities stated that an officer at the scene suspected the driver may have been impaired.

Officials said the driver remains in stable condition while receiving medical care. The results of the blood test are still pending.

Investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life. We also wish the injured driver a full and swift recovery.
