Maurice River, NJ (February 23, 2025) – On Saturday, February 22, two people were killed after a head-on collision involving an alleged drunk driver in Maurice River. The fatal accident took place on Route 522 early that morning at around 4:15 a.m. Local reports revealed that Levon Woods was traveling eastbound in a Kia when he collided head-on with a westbound Honda near mile marker 19.4. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The driver of the Honda, 57-year-old Thomas Splinter, and the passenger, 29-year-old Nancy Orellana-Splinter, both from Mays Landing, both sustained fatal injuries in the impact. Woods was injured and treated by attending medical personnel. Woods is currently facing charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, and unsafe lane change. No additional information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
