Woolwich, NJ – Bryan Matos-Gonzalez & Jansel Lopez Killed in Tanker Trailer Crash on New Jersey Turnpike
Woolwich, NJ (January 19, 2023) – Two people have died as a result of a major truck crash that occurred on Sunday in the Woolwich area. Just before 4 p.m., on January 15, the New Jersey State Police responded to a traffic accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Reports from law enforcement show that 29-year-old Bryan Matos-Gonzales of Raleigh, North Carolina, was driving a van with his passenger, 24-year-old Jansel Lopez of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, on the New Jersey Turnpike.
At the same time, a tanker truck was entering the northbound side of the highway from a ramp near Interchange 2. As the vehicle entered the road, the two vehicles collided.
The impact of the crash caused the van to veer off the road and overturn. The van came to rest in a ravine.
Matos-Gonzales and Lopez both suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. They were pronounced deceased at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently being investigated.
