Wharton Borough, NJ – Woman Killed in Four-Vehicle Crash on I-80 WB
Wharton Borough, NJ (April 10, 2026) – A 39-year-old woman lost her life in a multi-vehicle crash on Thursday morning, April 9, on Interstate 80 westbound in Wharton Borough. The accident involved four vehicles and resulted in multiple injuries.
Emergency units responded at approximately 8:08 a.m. after reports of a serious collision. Troopers arrived and found several vehicles damaged along the westbound lanes.
Authorities said a woman from Piscataway was driving a Subaru when an Audi struck the rear of her vehicle. The impact caused the Subaru to spin and crash into a guardrail.
The Audi continued forward after the initial impact and struck two additional vehicles, identified as a Pontiac and a Chevrolet. The chain reaction led to further damage along the roadway.
The woman driving the Subaru suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the crash. Officials confirmed her identity as Tisha Hutchinson.
The driver of the Audi and two young passengers sustained moderate injuries. Paramedics transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
Investigators are reviewing the sequence of events and collecting evidence from the crash site. The investigation remains active.
