Two Killed After Tractor-Trailer Overturns on I-78 in Newark, NJ
Newark, NJ (August 26, 2026) – Two women died in a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a car on Interstate 78 East in Newark on Tuesday, August 25. The wreck happened at about 9:08 a.m. near milepost 56.8 in the local lanes.
According to officials, a Mack tractor hauling a utility trailer approached a Chevrolet sedan that had stopped in traffic in the left lane. The truck driver tried to move around the Chevrolet, but the tractor-trailer overturned onto the car.
The Chevrolet driver and her passenger died from their injuries. The tractor-trailer driver had minor injuries.
The crash closed lanes and caused delays along Interstate 78 East Tuesday morning.
