Toms River, NJ – Teen Driver Involved in Fatal Crash on Rte 37

Toms River, NJ (March 9, 2025) – An unlicensed teen driver has been arrested following a fatal car accident in Toms River on Friday, March 7. The deadly collision took place on Route 37 late that evening at around 11 p.m. on Route 37 near Route 166. It was reported that the crash involved a chase with an unlicensed minor operating a BMW traveling at 188 miles per hour.
Authorities pursued the vehicle from a distance due to safety concerns, but the BMW ended up crashing into a Toyota Camry. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to provide the necessary medical aid. Despite life-saving support, the driver and front seat passenger of the Toyota were killed in the crash. The driver of the BMW was not hurt and was arrested by officials. Two passengers in the BMW were treated and later released. The minor is currently facing charges of aggravated manslaughter, death by auto, assault by auto, causing injury while driving unlicensed, and other related charges.
