Sayreville, NJ (May 23, 2025) – A truck driver was killed after being struck by a car on a New Jersey highway in Sayreville on Thursday, May 22. The fatal accident was reported on Route 9 early that morning at around 4:51 a.m. It was later revealed that the victim was making repairs to his tractor-trailer when he was hit by a Hyundai Kona driven by a 33-year-old Old Bridge man. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide the necessary medical aid. The tractor-trailer was disabled in the right lane as the victim, 53-year-old Jamal Ebron of Jersey City, was outside making the repairs. Despite life-saving aid from attending medical personnel, Ebron suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. The area was temporarily closed as local authorities were present. No further information on the crash is currently available. Nonetheless, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
