Sayreville, NJ – Pedestrian Dies Working on Big Rig on Rte 9
Sayreville, NJ (May 23, 2025) – A truck driver was killed after being struck by a car on a New Jersey highway in Sayreville on Thursday, May 22. The fatal accident was reported on Route 9 early that morning at around 4:51 a.m. It was later revealed that the victim was making repairs to his tractor-trailer when he was hit by a Hyundai Kona driven by a 33-year-old Old Bridge man.
Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide the necessary medical aid. The tractor-trailer was disabled in the right lane as the victim, 53-year-old Jamal Ebron of Jersey City, was outside making the repairs. Despite life-saving aid from attending medical personnel, Ebron suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. The area was temporarily closed as local authorities were present.
