One Dead, Two Hurt After Tesla and SUV Crash on Rte 55 in Vineland, NJ

Vineland, NJ (August 23, 2026) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a two-vehicle wreck on Route 55 in Vineland on Saturday, August 22, at approximately 8:31 a.m.

According to the New Jersey State Police, a Tesla was traveling southbound near milepost 34.6 when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Tesla left the roadway, crossed the grass median, struck a tree, and continued into the northbound lanes, where it collided with a Chevrolet SUV.

The Chevrolet SUV was occupied by a 68-year-old Pennsylvania man and a passenger. He was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision. His passenger and the Tesla driver were transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

The New Jersey State Police continue to investigate what caused the Tesla driver to lose control.
