Kearny, NJ – Driver, Passenger Killed in Crash on NJ Tpke
Kearny, NJ (May 17, 2025) – Two people are dead after a car accident in the Kearny area on Friday, May 16. The deadly crash took place on the New Jersey Turnpike early that morning at around 3:30 a.m. Two vehicles reportedly collided at the scene, a BMW sedan and a Ford Transit van.
The circumstances leading to the crash have not yet been provided. The male driver of the BMW and a female passenger sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by attending medical personnel. The Transit Van contained nine occupants from Canada and New York State. Seven of these occupants were transported by Emergency Medical Services to University Hospital in Newark for treatment, while two other occupants were taken to Jersey City Medical Center. One of the parties was listed in critical condition. The area was temporarily closed while emergency crews were present. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
