Moped Accidents in New Jersey

Since mopeds are smaller and move more slowly than motorcycles, many people believe that riding one is safer than riding a motorcycle. However, for just those reasons, riding a moped can be just as dangerous. Because they are thin and light, mopeds are hard to see on the road. Motorcycles are already hard for drivers to see, so a smaller car would be considerably more challenging. Even more, mopeds lack the benefits of passenger car safety. Drivers get some protection from the force of an impact from their car’s metal chassis, seat belts, and airbags. When there is a collision, moped riders are more likely to sustain serious injuries because they are exposed to direct impact. Similar to motorcyclists, riders of mopeds are much more likely to suffer life-changing injuries in a crash. If you or someone close to you is hurt in a crash, you must be ready to pursue a claim for compensation with a trained attorney.
