Irvington, NJ – Man Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Garden State Pkwy

Irvington, NJ (June 14, 2025) – An elderly man was killed after a pedestrian-vehicle accident outside of Irvington on Thursday, June 12. The Deadly crash took place on the Garden State Parkway in Essex County near mile marker 145.7 early that morning at around 4:25 a.m. It was reported that a sport utility vehicle and another unidentified car were involved in a crash involving a pedestrian.
The vehicles were traveling north at the time of the impact. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to provide aid. Despite life-saving support from attending medical personnel, the victim, 70-year-old Richard Angel of East Orange, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
