Hamilton Township, NJ (January 21, 2026) – A fatal traffic accident claimed the life of an 80-year-old woman on Tuesday afternoon, January 20,  after 4:00 p.m., just at the intersection of Weymouth Road and Mizpah Road in Hamilton Township.

According to Hamilton Township police, a 1995 BMW 525 driven by Janet Wooding, 80, of Mays Landing, was traveling northbound on Weymouth Road and attempting to make a left turn onto Mizpah Road. At the same time, a 2021 Kenworth T3-series truck, driven by James Birch, 58, of Estell Manor, was traveling southbound on Weymouth Road.

Authorities stated that the two vehicles collided at the intersection during the turning maneuver. As a result of the impact, Wooding sustained traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police reported that no other injuries were reported in connection with the crash.

The roadway remained closed for approximately four hours while emergency responders and investigators worked to document the scene and clear the wreckage. Hamilton Township police were assisted by the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, the Mays Landing, Weymouth, and Laureldale Fire Departments, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
