What Injuries Are Common in Pedestrian Accidents in Franklin Twp?
Pedestrian accidents often result in serious injuries
because individuals on foot have little protection when struck by a motor vehicle. In crashes like the one reported at Asbury Broadway Road and Good Springs Road, the force of impact can cause a wide range of traumatic harm.
Head and brain injuries are among the most common. Pedestrians may suffer concussions, skull fractures, or traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) after striking a vehicle or the roadway, potentially leading to long-term cognitive and physical effects.
Spinal and neck injuries are also frequently seen. Damage may include herniated discs, fractured vertebrae, or spinal cord injuries, some of which can cause lasting mobility limitations or paralysis.
Broken bones are extremely common as well. Pedestrians often sustain fractures to the legs, hips, pelvis, arms, and wrists, many of which require surgery, extended recovery, and physical therapy.
Soft-tissue injuries such as cuts, bruises, sprains, and torn ligaments may also occur. Internal injuries are another serious concern, as damage to organs like the lungs or liver may not be immediately visible but can be life-threatening if untreated.
