Elizabeth, NJ (May 2, 2023) – Authorities in Elizabeth confirmed that 80-year-old Dawn Cole died as a result of a truck accident that took place on Sunday evening.

Just before 10:40 p.m. on April 30, the New Jersey State Police and firefighters responded to the scene of a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Reports show that a van was traveling north on the New Jersey Turnpike when it became disabled near exit 13. For reasons unknown, the vehicle was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer.

One person involved in the crash, identified as Cole, was fatally injured. Cole was pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries while at the scene.

A 59-year-old man suffered injuries in the crash. He was hospitalized in serious condition.

At this time, the incident is being investigated.
