Bethlehem, NJ (April 8, 2025) – One person was killed and another injured after a crash involving a commercial truck in Bethlehem Township on Sunday, April 6. The deadly accident took place in Hunterdon County on Interstate 78 near mile marker 7.8 at around 4:46 p.m. Local reports revealed that a Peterbilt semi-trailer was parked on the right shoulder. 

A Ford F-150 pickup pulling a camper and an unknown vehicle were traveling eastbound on the interstate. An unidentified vehicle made contact with the Ford, causing the truck to travel into the right shoulder ,where it hit the semi. The unidentified vehicle continued traveling east. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Ford, 78-year-old Alan Smith of Nova Scotia, Canada, was killed in the impact. His passenger, a 78-year-old woman also from Nova Scotia, was injured and airlifted to a local hospital for the treatment of serious injuries. No further information on the collision is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
