Berkeley Heights, NJ – Two Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on I-78

Berkeley Heights, NJ (June 4, 2024) – Two motorcyclists were killed after a collision in the Berkeley Heights area on Sunday, June 2. The deadly crash was reported on Interstate 78, near mile marker 42.8 that night, around 6:06 p.m. It was later revealed that a Lexus SUV, Honda passenger vehicle, BMW motorcycle, and Suzuki motorcycle were headed eastbound on the interstate at the time of the collision.
The BMW motorcycle hit the back of the Honda, which caused the Suzuki to crash into the back of the BMW. The BMW then collided with the Lexus before leaving the roadway and hitting a traffic sign. Both motorcycles overturned as a result of the crash, causing both riders to be ejected. The operator of the BMW motorcycle, 31-year-old Sherman Bardouille from Irvington, and the Suzuki rider, 42-year-old Tamir Lee from Newark, sustained fatal injuries and were later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported in the accident. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be provided as it continues.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time.
