Paramus, NJ – Woman Fatally Hit In Parking Lot At Paramus Public Library

Paramus, NJ (March 19, 2024) – On Saturday, March 16, a Woman was killed after a devastating pedestrian accident in the Paramus area. The deadly crash occurred in a parking lot at the Paramus Public Library on Century Road that afternoon. Local reports indicated that 75-year-old Helen Koons of Paramus was dragged nearly 20 feet after being hit by a 2013 Toyota Corolla driven by Claire Plager, also from Paramus.

Koons was reportedly traveling in a crosswalk near the rear entrance of the library when she was hit. She was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries and was later pronounced dead that evening. Plager was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
