Old Tappan, NJ – Three Hit By Car Near School At Charles Pl & Kay St

Old Tappan, NJ (March 14, 2024) – A father and his two children were injured after being hit by a vehicle near an elementary school in Old Tappan on Tuesday, March 12. The accident occurred early that morning at around 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Charles Place and Kay Street near T. Baldwin Demarest Elementary School. The three pedestrians were crossing at the intersection when they were hit by a driver making a left-hand turn.

An officer was stationed near the school, and emergency crews quickly responded to provide the necessary medical aid. All three were transported to local hospitals for treatment of sustained injuries. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officials. The area was temporarily closed to outside traffic as emergency crews worked the scene. No further updates have been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
