Old Bridge, NJ – Florence Akoma Loses Life in Car Crash on Route 18 near Ferris Rd

Old Bridge, NJ (July 18, 2023) – Emergency crews confirmed that 45-year-old Florence Akoma lost her life as a result of a crash that occurred in the Old Bridge area on Sunday evening, July 16.

According to official reports, 20-year-old James Cannici was driving on Ferris Road during the evening hours. As the vehicle turned left onto Route 18 and entered the wrong side of the roadway, it collided with a Honda Accord and a third vehicle.

A passenger in the Honda, identified as Akoma, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Accord was severely injured and rushed to a local hospital for medical care.

Cannici was arrested and faces multiple charges related to driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated manslaughter. The crash is being investigated.
