At approximately 2:10 a.m., emergency crews were called to provide assistance at the scene of an automobile accident that took place on Mount Prospect Avenue.

Preliminary reports show that at least two vehicles collided on Mount Prospect Avenue in the area of Elwood Avenue. The force of the collision caused one of the vehicles to split in half. A male that was inside of the split vehicle was ejected, causing significant injuries.

The man and a second victim at the scene were both transported to area hospitals for emergency medical treatment.

The police out of Newark are actively investigating to determine what caused the crash to occur.

We hope the injured victims recover quickly. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
