Newark, NJ – Man Injured in Central Ward Crash on 18th Ave near Irvine Turner Blvd

Newark, NJ (March 17, 2023) – At around 5:14 a.m. on March 16, the Newark Police Department and area firefighters were called to the scene of an accident in the Central Ward that left one man injured.

Reports from the police show that the police were in pursuit of a suspect who was occupying a stolen Kia during the early morning hours. As the vehicle fled the police, they crashed into a Honda Civic near the intersection of Irvine Turner Boulevard and 18th Avenue.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and located two damaged vehicles that were involved in the crash and blocking the road. Four people, including the driver of the Kia, fled the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Honda, who has not been identified publicly, suffered injuries in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for emergency care.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
