Manchester, NJ – Three Hurt In Collision At NJ-70 & CR 571

Manchester, NJ (April 16, 2024) – Three people were injured following a car accident in the Manchester area on Monday, April 15. The accident was reported at the corner of NJ-70 and County Road 571 that afternoon around 4 p.m. It was later revealed that two vehicles collided at the intersection as one of the drivers was making a left turn.

A black 2002 Toyota Tundra headed westbound on the highway collided with a red 2008 Mercury Milan that made a turn onto NJ-70. The Tundra crashed into the passenger side of the Mercury. The impact caused the Milan to be pushed off the road where it hit a traffic signal post. The Toyota made a turn counterclockwise and came to a rest in the intersection.

The driver of the Toyota, 30-year-old Casey McCarter of Browns Mills, suffered extensive head injuries, along with the front seat passenger, 65-year-old John McCarter also from Browns Mills. McCarter was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune via a medevac helicopter. The driver of the Mercury, 55-year-old Donna Gerhardt of Whiting, was also injured. All the victims were hospitalized for treatment. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in the hands of local authorities.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
