Fatal Car Accidents in New Jersey
In 2022, over 700 people lost their lives as a result of motor vehicle accidents in the state of New Jersey. This is the highest number of traffic-related fatalities statewide since 2007. The unfortunate truth is that we continue to see a significant number of people lose their lives in motor vehicle accidents despite having laws in place to protect motorists.
As more and more people are turning to technology, we see countless accidents take place as a result of distracted drivers. When drivers are on their cell phones, whether talking or texting, they take their attention off the road, which can cause serious accidents.
We have also witnessed an increase in the number of drunk driving accidents on our roads. When people are impaired by drugs or alcohol, they can have a severely delayed reaction time, poor judgment, and other negative effects that prevent them from operating the vehicle safely and responsibly.
Unfortunately, negligent actions continue to be the leading cause of these accidents. If your loved one has died as a result of a fatal motor vehicle accident, a Jersey City wrongful death lawyer can help your family get justice. After a fatal accident, your family can pursue legal action against the responsible party to recover compensation for your damages.
