Hope Twp, NJ – Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on NJ-80
Hope Twp, NJ (August 16, 2024) – A high-speed chase involving police ended in a deadly crash in the area of Hope Township on Tuesday, August 13. The deadly crash took place on NJ-80 near County Road 521 early that morning, around 10:20 a.m. Local reports revealed that officials were following an SUV on the highway near mile marker 11.
The SUV continued traveling on the highway when it exited near County Road 521. The driver hit an oncoming motorcyclist on the roadway, causing the rider to be ejected. The SUV left the roadway before coming to a stop in a wooded area. Despite life-saving measures from responding officials, the injured motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. The suspect driver was transported to Hackettstown Medical Center for treatment and was later taken into custody. No further updates on the crash are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
