Hamilton Twp, NJ – Driver Dies in Head-on Crash at Broad St & Hempstead Rd
Hamilton Twp., NJ (December 22, 2024) – On Friday, December 20, a driver was killed and two others injured after a multi-vehicle collision in Hamilton Township. The deadly crash took place at the corner of S. Broad Street and Hempstead Road late that night around 10:05 p.m. Local reports revealed that an initial crash involving a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan and a 2011 Hyundai Sonata took place.
Emergency crews were rapidly dispatched to provide the necessary aid. It was later revealed that 45-year-old Anthony Pipitone of Waterford Township was headed eastbound in the Tiguan when he collided head-on with a westbound Hyundai driven by a 62-year-old Lawrenceville woman. A 2003 Toyota Camry driven by 43-year-old Byron W. Zepeda Gonzalez of Trenton crashed into the rear of the Hyundai. The circumstances leading to the crash have not been determined, but there was inclement weather at the time of the impact due to snowfall.
Both Pipitone and the driver of the Hyundai were rushed to Capital Health Regional Trauma Center in Trenton for treatment, while Zepeda Gonzalez was transported to RWJ Hospital in Hamilton by ambulance. The driver of the Hyundai was later pronounced dead the following day. No updates on the deadly crash are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
