Fatal Car Accidents in New Jersey

The loss of a loved one can be incredibly difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, hundreds of fatal accidents are reported statewide every year. There are many cases where innocent people lose their lives suddenly and unexpectedly in car crashes due to the negligence of other motorists.

If your loved one has died as a result of a fatal collision, your family may be able to take legal action. Reaching out to a wrongful death lawyer in Carneys Point Township can provide your family with the best chance of holding the person who is responsible for your loved ones passing accountable.

In accordance with the wrongful death statute in the state of New Jersey, the personal representative of the deceased individual is the one who is required to initiate legal action in the event of a fatal car accident. In most cases, this is the executor or administrator of the estate of the deceased person.

However, if the decedent did not have an estate, the court has the ability to appoint a personal representative to pursue the wrongful death claim on their behalf. It is required that a claim for wrongful death be submitted within two years of the decedent’s passing.

Filing a wrongful death claim can help your family secure compensation for funeral arrangements, burial expenses, lost earning capacity, and more.
