Absecon, NJ – Man Hurt in Hit-&-Run at Highland Blvd & Marlborough Ave

Absecon, NJ (December 2, 2024) – On Saturday, November 30, a man and his dog were injured after a hit-and-run accident in the Absecon area. The accident took place at the corner of Highland Boulevard and Marlborough Avenue early that morning just after midnight. It was reported that the victim, 25-year-old Syed Hoque of Absecon, was walking his dog when both were hit by an oncoming driver. 

Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The at-fault driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the involved parties. Hoque was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. Authorities were able to locate a vehicle matching the description, and 51-year-old Byron Jones of Mays Landing was later arrested in connection with the incident. No further information on the accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are managing an ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
