Wrong-Way Crashes in New Jersey
Wrong-way collisions are not particularly common across the country, but many people are still killed in these types of crashes every year. Statistics show that the majority of wrong-way accidents involve drunk or intoxicated motorists, but sometimes drivers just enter the wrong side of the road for another reason. When a motorist travels in the wrong direction on the road, they are at risk of colliding head-on with an oncoming vehicle, and these types of crashes are some of the most lethal in the country. In fact, according to findings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), head-on impacts have a nearly 56 percent fatality rate, much higher than other types of crashes. If you or someone close to you is hurt in a crash, you need to be ready to fight for your legal rights by working closely with a competent legal team.
