Manchester, NJ – Two Airlifted in Head-on Crash on Rte 539

Manchester, NJ (January 10, 2024) – On Wednesday, January 8, two drivers were injured following a head-on collision in the Manchester area. The crash took place on Route 539 near mile marker 26 at around 5:30 p.m. According to local reports, 62-year-old Troy Sullivan of Absecon was traveling south in a gray 2014 Chrysler 200 as 54-year-old Wendy O’Neal of Hamilton was headed north in a blue 2021 Chevrolet Spark leading up to the collision.

For unknown reasons, Sullivan’s vehicle crossed the center line, causing the front side to hit the oncoming Chevy. The Chrysler continued down the road until coming to a stop facing south in the northbound lane. The impact caused the Chevy to spin 270 degrees before coming to a stop facing east on the north side of the highway. Several emergency units were dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Both drivers were flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for the treatment of serious injuries. No additional information on the collision is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
