Gloucester Twp, NJ – Motorcyclist Dies in Hit-&-Run on NJ-55

Gloucester Twp, NJ (September 11, 2024) – On Sunday, September 8, a motorcyclist was killed after a hit-and-run accident outside of Gloucester Township. The deadly crash took place that afternoon on NJ-55. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene after being notified of a serious accident involving a motorcycle. 

Local reports revealed that 62-year-old William Baldwin of Newfield was traveling southbound on the highway at the time of the crash. Baldwin was on the on-ramp from NJ-40 and entered NJ-50 SB when he hit a curb and entered oncoming traffic. He hit an unknown vehicle and was ejected from his bike. The other driver fled the scene without providing aid to the injured party. Despite life-saving measures from responding officials, Baldwin suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
