Elizabeth, NJ – 25 Injured in Major NJ Transit Bus Crash with Mack Truck on New Jersey Turnpike near MM 99.4

Elizabeth, NJ (February 15, 2023) – Multiple victims were hospitalized as a result of a major bus crash that took place on Tuesday in the Elizabeth area.

On February 14, officials were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Preliminary reports indicate that at around 7:30 a.m., a New Jersey transit bus crashed into a Mack truck in a Freightliner on the Turnpike. The incident caused severe delays in the area of mile marker 99.4.

The New Jersey State Police and firefighters blocked off multiple lanes in the area as they provided assistance.

There were 29 people on board the bus at the time of the accident. A total of 25 victims suffered injuries. Multiple victims were provided treatment at the scene before being transported to area hospitals.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
