Berkeley Heights, NJ – DUI Head-on Crash at Oak Ridge Rd & Mountain Ave

Berkeley Heights, NJ (November 22, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a head-on collision involving an alleged drunk driver in Berkeley Heights on Wednesday, November 20.

The accident took place at the corner of Oak Ridge Road and Mountain Avenue late that evening around 7:36 p.m. Local reports revealed that 34-year-old Leonardo Pupo was driving a car when he entered oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle. 

Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. Two people in the other car were hurt and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Pupo was later charged with driving while intoxicated and taken into custody. The area was temporarily closed while local authorities worked the scene. Tow trucks were needed to remove the damaged vehicles. No further information on the collision is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
